Job Summary:
The Sustainability Manager will play a critical role in leading the sustainability initiatives for our organization's Agriculture and Environmental Science division. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance sustainability practices, reduce environmental impact, and promote sustainable development within our organization and wider industry. The Sustainability Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive sustainable practices, manage resources efficiently, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement sustainability strategies, policies, and initiatives to minimize environmental impact and improve sustainable practices across the organization.
2. Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and certifications.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and monitor sustainability goals, targets, and performance indicators.
4. Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability principles into their operations, projects, and decision-making processes.
5. Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices among employees and stakeholders.
6. Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in sustainability and environmental science to drive continuous improvement.
7. Establish and maintain effective relationships with external partners, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and industry groups to foster collaboration and drive sustainability initiatives.
8. Prepare and present reports, presentations, and business cases on sustainability performance, progress, and recommendations to senior management.
9. Lead and coordinate sustainability-related projects, including feasibility studies, life cycle assessments, and carbon footprint calculations.
10. Monitor and manage the organization's sustainability budget, ensuring cost-effective implementation of initiatives and adherence to financial targets.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in a similar sustainability management role, preferably within the agriculture or environmental science industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
4. Strong understanding of environmental science, life cycle assessments, carbon footprint calculations, and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP).
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainability strategies, policies, and initiatives.
6. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
8. Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
9. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve sustainability goals.
10. Proficient in using sustainability software, data management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
